The property is located in the Refugio Gandoca-Manzanillo Nature Reserve (Talamanca, Limón), close to the village of Manzanillo, on the Caribbean (Atlantic) coast of Costa Rica. The land is covered by tropical forest with a variety of flora and fauna, including many palm trees and howler monkeys. Basic supplies are available in Manzanillo village - a few minutes walk - and expanded services in Puerto Viejo, the area’s tourism center with shops, restaurants, bars, supermarkets. Full services (large food market, hospital, auto mechanics, city hall) are found in the port city of Limón. The entire coast is dotted with palm lined beaches and coral reefs. There are private houses, inns, restaurants and businesses - many owned by north-american and european expats - along the coast. Extensive coral reef formations can be explored at nearby Cahuita National Park.
